Danger thin ice!

You may have seen these signs on the beaver ponds by the snowshoe trails. On January 8 we were walking across the beaver pond by the abandoned trapper's cabin on Snowy Vista. The snow and ice began to move like a water bed and almost immediately my foot was in the water. To reduce the risk, when heading north (towards the Meadow Cabin) walk to the left of the marsh and then cross to the trapper's cabin.

Please be very careful when crossing beaver ponds. You will find them on Snowy Vista (several ponds), Snowy Owl (one pond), Snow Business (one pond and a stream), and Snow View (one large pond).
